Easy Mullein Leaf Tea in 3 Steps to Breathe Better

Mullein

Mullein leaves are a great way to clear respiratory issues such as coughs and asthma symptoms. A favorite way to take it is to make mullein tea. This post tells you how to make a simple mullein leaf tea to soothe your bronchia and help you breathe easier. I personally have used mullein for years to soothe and prevent asthma flare-ups.

Mullein leaf tea

Ingredients

  • Mullein leaves – 1 tbsp, loosely packed
  • Water – 10 fl oz

Equipment

  • Sieve, mesh, or tea bag (This needs to be very fine to strain out the tiny hairs that grow on mullein leaf, which can irritate the mouth–I recommend a folded up cheesecloth for a reusable option, or empty tea paper tea bags for an option you won’t have to clean later.)
  • Kettle
  • Mug

Instructions

  1. Set water to boil in the kettle.
  2. Place the mullein leaves in the sieve, mesh, or tea bag, inside the mug.
  3. When the water boils, pour it into the mug with the mullein leaf, and wait ten minutes.

*Tip: Put a saucer over the mug while it steeps to prevent it from losing heat.

After ten minutes, it should be ready to drink. You can’t oversteep mullein leaf, so you can leave it in there while you drink it if you want. You can also use more than 1 tablespoon, but I’ve found that to be plenty in most cases.
